The Content & Channels lead for Europe will be responsible for planning and delivering regional and local content and campaigns, illustrating the role we play powering European businesses.
Part of the European Communications team, this role will contribute to our priorities: promoting Alibaba Group’s reputation and supporting the regional business. You will be responsible for creating, improving and maintaining content to support our communications goals.
Responsible for programming and producing multi-channel content to engage external (and sometimes internal) audiences, this role will identify, curate and execute stories and insights from across the Alibaba Group business.
Content could span news, events, insights and of course, customer stories, told across a range of formats, from written stories to digital content (infographics, animation), video production, podcasts and more.
The channel mix includes our own corporate channels: Alibaba in Europe LinkedIn (ownership of this) and (partnership with this), as well as the development of content for corporate social channels, earned media stories, events and partner channels. The right candidate will help us plan the evolution and expansion of our channel mix into the future.
This role requires a great team worker, who can partner with stakeholders from across the business in Europe and internationally, including: corporate communications, international content team, country leads, business development colleagues and local marketing. You will need to establish rapport and trust with customers and partners, to help shape and tell their stories.
This is a great role for a dynamic self-starter, with experience producing and promoting engaging content, someone passionate about the mission of our business, who’s already keeping a keen eye on content & channel innovations, who can help keep our story relevant and engaging for audiences.
Key responsibilities
•Conceive and execute content plans to work across key channels
•Manage an editorial calendar – planning, managing and editing content
•Establish an authentic, engaging human tone of voice for our content & channels, consistent with company brand and values
•Story gathering: research, interviewing, writing and editing
•Serve as the European lead for our corporate news hub
•Content production: including technical know-how and production skills
•Maintain social channels: technical & editorial ownership
•Channel development: recommendation for future channel expansion
•Partnership with key stakeholders across the business
•Contribute to weekly team reporting
•Measure the effectiveness of our content & channels strategy
•Train & coach colleagues in content and channels best practice, to help develop team expertise
•Occasionally this role will need to manage third party vendors (eg for video production)


Role requirements
Ideal candidates will possess most or all of the following:
•Minimum 7 years relevant experience in a content, channels or equivalent role
•Natural storyteller
•Able to think creatively, work independently with a strong sense of ownership
•Curious, well-networked & with a finger on the pulse of industry innovations
•Hands-on, organized, and detail-oriented while not losing sight of the big picture
•Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•Team player, self-motivated
•Familiar with working in a global company with high cultural diversity.
•Excellent English language: writing & editing skills – essential
•Mandarin language skills – preferred
•Experience across content formats: from written, to visual and video production
•Track record managing & developing digital / social channels
•European and longhaul travel (including to China), when possible again - likely to be required
