Job Description

Key responsibilities to be covered by an Assistant Accountant:

  • Managing the financial monitoring and reporting process for projects
  • Preparation and and submission of monthly CIS and VAT returns to deadlines
  • Working alongside project managers on SMP Budgeting
  • Assisting with Month End Management Accounts
  • Reporting Journals to assist with Month End
  • Ensuring that costs are assigned to the correct code
  • Review of weekly purchase ledger runs and assisting the team as required
  • Previous experience with Reconciliations
  • Accruals and pre-payments
  • Liaising with wider project teams to deliver a profitable project
  • Advising on strategic and business planning
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Line Manager
  • The Successful Applicant

    The successful candidate for an Assistant Accountant will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Construction sector is highly desirable
  • Part-qualified with ACA or CIMA or ACCA
  • Previous experience of VAT and CIS reporting
  • Strong Excel Skills - VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables or use of similar software such as COINS
  • Previous exposure to Month End Management Accounts
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations and accruals
  • Experience with reporting journals
  • Ability to communicate with other members of the team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Degree in a relevant field will be preferred
