<p><strong>Job Title: Community Advisor – English & Somalian speaking</strong></p><p>Location: Manchester area</p><p>Salary: From £13.01 per hour dependent on location</p><p>Contract: Temporary (26<sup>th</sup> October 2020 – 7<sup>th</sup> May 2021)</p><p>Hours: 15-25 hours per week dependent on location</p><p><strong>The role:</strong></p><p>Kingdom Recruitment are recruiting for a Community Advisor working within the Somalian community across Manchester.</p><p>You will be using your experience of community engagement to make a difference within the community, working with a wide range of organisations to ensure that the community are engaged. You will build trusted relationships within the community of a specific area, organising and leading out-reach activities, such as community workshops and giving presentations to local community groups.</p><p><strong>Skills and experience:</strong></p><p>You’ll need to:</p><ul><li>have experience of working in community engagement or outreach. This may be in a paid or voluntary capacity</li><li>have the ability to develop and manage relationships</li><li>have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to achieve deadlines</li><li>have excellent written and verbal communication skills including delivering presentations and compiling reports</li><li>speak English</li><li>speak Somali to a sufficient standard to confidently discuss every-day terms, in that language</li><li>have awareness of diversity when delivering a service</li><li>have IT skills, including experience of using a variety of software</li><li>have good decision-making and problem-solving skills</li><li>be resilient – you’ll be supported by colleagues and your manager but much of the time you’ll be working on your own</li></ul><ul><li>be competent in using a mobile phone, tablet and laptop and have access to the inte et</li><li>be prepared to use your home as an office and be able to receive, check and securely store small items and supplies (you’ll need to let your insurance company know that you’ll be working from home)</li><li>undertake training and attend meetings as required</li><li>be available from 26 October 2020 to 7 May 2021 (there will be leave restrictions during this time)</li><li>be willing to work unsociable hours or have the flexibility to work the hours to best support the community (this will include some evening and weekend work)</li><li>be able to travel outside your work area, for example to attend meetings</li></ul><p><strong>It would be desirable for you to:</strong></p><ul><li>hold a current full UK driving licence and/or have the use of a motor vehicle (insured for business use) for which a mileage allowance will be paid (in certain areas this could be considered essential)</li></ul>
