Full-Time (10 PA) Consultant Histopathologist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Wythenshawe Hospital).

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic cellular pathologist to join our team of 16 subspecialist pathologists based at Wythenshawe Hospital (MFT Wythenshawe site) although sessional work may be required at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MFT Oxford Road site) in the future in accordance with strategic re-organisation of local pathology services. This is a replacement post. Part-time candidates will also be eligible to be considered for appointment.

Areas of current primary need include breast (including NHS Breast Screening Programme work), gastrointestinal and skin pathology . The ideal candidate will contribute to two or three subspecialties to provide rota flexibility (although monospecialism will be considered). There is no requirement for cervical cytology or autopsy pathology in this post.

We are linked to the University of Manchester Medical School and there are opportunities for teaching and research locally. The department is part of the HENW North West training rotation and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the training of Specialty Trainees in Histopathology.

Applicants must hold Full and Specialist Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a License to Practice (or be eligible for registration within 6 months of date of interview), and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (or evidence of equivalent qualification) . If a newly qualified UK trainee, the applicant must also be a holder of the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT (or equivalent) by date of interview. Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
