Specialist Children’s Services (SCS) in NHS GG&C are recruiting 3 Consultant Paediatrician posts - 3 permanent, all to be based in the Glasgow City area of the Board. Successful candidates will join established multidisciplinary teams delivering Neurodisability and Neurodevelopmental services in dedicated child centres and in complex support needs schools. Broad experience in assessment and diagnosis of complex Neurodisability, Autism and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is required. Interest in broader Neurodevelopmental presentations such as ADHD and learning disability would be welcome as we develop a neurodevelopmental service for the Board area. An interest in feeding issues in children would bring additionality to our team. Some sessions will support an initiative to reduce waiting times for children undergoing Autism assessments, particularly in the Glasgow City area of the Board, working within an established Autism framework. Recognition and understanding of broad child protection and vulnerabilities is required but these posts are not linked to the dedicated Child Protection Service. Opportunities for exposure to other areas of sub-specialty interest can be explored with successful candidates. SPA time is included, and we have an active and supportive CPD programme within our service. There are close links with the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, but there is no out of hours commitment with these posts.
SCS comprises Community Paediatrics and CAMHS, and there are close working relationships between services, with co-location in most child centres. SCS medical staff are hosted by one single HSCP on behalf of the Board, although delivery of service is across all 6 HSCP partners.
Candidates must be on the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of eligibility for this.
