Consultant Urological Surgeon
Applications are invited for the above new substantive 10PA Consultant post at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the growing team. The post holder would become part of an existing team of seven Consultant Urological Surgeons. All Consultants contribute to the general urological workload and 2ww service. In addition to providing these core urology services, the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop a specialist interest according to the needs of the department and to complement the existing consultant body. Opportunities exist for expanding the portfolio of minimally invasive treatments for benign prostate enlargement, prostate cancer diagnostics, developing and supporting the stone service and paediatric urology.
The Urology Investigation Unit in Bath is an established, integrated outpatient facility comprising 6 consulting rooms, a new dedicated flexible cystoscopy/prostate biopsy/minor-ops suite, urodynamics room and staff offices. There is a dedicated urology inpatient theatre in the main theatre block.
The successful candidate will be part of a busy department offering a comprehensive Urology service delivered by seven (six full-time) Consultants, two Specialty Trainees, three Clinical Fellows and two F1/2. Ward and emergency support is also provided by three designated Urology Nurse Practitioners.
The department includes a comprehensive team of eight experienced Specialist Urology Nurses. There are nurse-led clinics for flexible cystoscopy, new referral triage, emergency drop in, new cancer diagnoses, active surveillance, male and female LUTS, remote PSA follow-up, female recurrent UTI and andrology.
