The role of the Data Scientist within Business Insights Product Team at Synamedia is key to delivering our overall insights offering. The role sits within the Insight team reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics and working closely with the Senior Product Manager for Data and the Visualisation expert.
Whilst the role will deal with all areas of analysis and insight, there will be a focus on building new models for predicting user behaviour and engagement. This team should be the centre of Excellence for data solutions within the business and this role is vital towards achieving that mission.
Conduct data modelling and statistical analysis to identify key metrics and visualisations we should be presenting to our customers
Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
Extending our data with third party sources of information to build a better model
Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building insights
Proactively analyse our current data estate to identify insight presentation opportunities to enhance Synamedia’s insights portfolio
Define new models that would allow our customers to predict specific business outcomes – define prescriptive actions on the back of that.
Keep up with market trends and analysis to identify product opportunities for Synamedia to add to our tiered offering
Experience in building advanced statistical models that have been used
Presenting insights based on the analysis done with these models
Being curious and interested in continuously improving your data science/modelling techniques – we need someone proactive, who is keen to get their hands dirty and to learn on their own.
Experience of several analytical tools or languages (Python, R, SQL, Google Analytics, Qlik, Tableau, Excel) to deliver analysis and reporting.
Commercially focused mindset, someone who will make sense of the statistics to present true insights
Have a passion for using data to tell stories and help customers solve high level business requirements
Good attention to detail
A good knowledge of analytics industry trends and data manipulation techniques
Experienced working in an agile development environment
Experience solving problems on Kaggle or other Data science forums
A good knowledge of TV broadcasting
