We believe in ‘Technology for Good’ – in improving lives through education and research. Our passionate team of people want to make a social impact and challenge conventional thinking as they work on cutting-edge, emerging technologies and solutions – the kind you won’t find anywhere else.
A place of openness and inclusivity, here we don’t just execute – we have the creative freedom and support to ideate, build and see our impact on an entire collective.
No pigeonholes or boxes, we believe great ideas come from everywhere and we’re all driven to live up to our leading reputation.
Not only do we have the opportunity to work at the highest level, but on meaningful projects too. That’s why we look for brave risk-takers – those who are always thinking one step ahead to power our organisation forward, and realise our digital vision.
We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box but we realise the ‘perfect candidate’ doesn’t exist. So, if you can do most of what we are looking for, go ahead and apply. You could be exactly what we need!
We’re ideally looking for someone with:
•Expert level experience of machine learning, advanced analytics techniques, predictive modelling, data mining, forecasting and statistical analysis.
•Experience bringing Data Science solutions to production.
•Experience in Python, and the ability to write readable efficient code using version control software.
•Practical experience with SQL, ETL and data analytics.
•Use of data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau and significant experience of leading projects or product development within data analytics.
•Calm under pressure and able to exercise initiative and self-direction.
•Able to influence others and where necessary be assertive and credible with internal and external contacts.
The Data Analytics Directorate supports members and customers by providing data analytics and services, which enrich the student experience, and advance higher and further education with powerful business intelligence and analysis.
This role is in our data and content team where data is at the heart of everything we do. We collect and integrate data people want to use. We deliver knowledge and skills so that people can make use of the data and we help customers use data to make decisions about their business and their everyday decisions.
The prime purpose of this role is to provide expertise in data science for both internal and external customers of the data analytics directorate. This is a relatively new role for the directorate and we expect the role holder will need to help define the value that they can bring to the team and our products and services so the role may well evolve over time.
Typically you can expect to research and develop suitable algorithm design for data analysis, understand the need for data science and devise appropriate solutions whilst leading and managing work for internal and external customers. This will include identifying solutions and delivering results.
