Job Duties:As an Employment Officer, you will work as part of a team to support people with a learning disability to access a range of employment and training opportunities, to develop their skills and confidence and to progress towards their employment goals and aspirations. You will have the ability to generate a range of high quality, appropriate placements and paid employment opportunities, through engagement with employers and effective promotion of Mencap services. The role requires the ability to travel to meetings, appointments, events and training, as well as to other Mencap locations when required. Qualifications / Experience:Awareness of the issues facing people with a learning disability and their families throughout their lives. Understanding of barriers to employment for people with a learning disability. Evidence of good time management skills. Evidence of the ability to work independently and use your own initiative. Evidence of working effectively within a team. Evidence of good communication skills, including ICT. Experience of supporting people to develop new/existing skills. Experience of effective negotiation and mediation. Maintain confidentiality. Work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the post. Ability to travel in accordance with the needs of the post.
