We are recruiting for a temporary HR office for a local Multi Academy Trust.

You will be working with the HR Business Partner to provide a successful operational HR service across the Trust. Focusing on providing expert advice and support on all HR matters whilst also focusing on an excellent customer service.

The HR Officer will report to the HR Business Partner, whilst working as part of the wider HR team. You will liaise with individual Academies within the Trust providing support were required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities :

  • This role has an operational focus, providing expert advice and support on all HR matters.
  • Provide guidance and support to Headteachers and Operations Managers in all employee relations including disciplinary matters, grievance, and absence management.
  • Support Head Teachers and Operations Managers to manage sickness absence including, analysing patterns of absence, monitoring trigger points, providing guidance on the content of case review meetings with the appropriate line manager, and supporting organisation of occupational health referrals.
  • Support Head Teachers and Operations Managers to undertake investigations, and to guide them to produce questions, provide evidence packs and write presentations, when dealing with Disciplinary or Grievance meetings and/or Hearings.
  • Working at a high level with minimum supervision to support Academies to deal with difficult and complex sensitive cases, in accordance with the Trusts Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in facilitating HR training for Trustees, Governors, Headteachers and Operations Managers.
  • Provide advice on recruitment and selection to academies.
  • Provide advice to Headteachers and Operations Managers on job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Undertake Personnel Files and Single Central Register Audits, and provide advice on action points.
  • Oversee the issuing of contracts for all staff, ensuring accuracy and within legal timeframes.
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager when necessary.
  • Contributing to the production of HR policies and procedures, ensuring these are in line with current employment law.
  • Ensure that the single central register for all centrally employed staff is maintained, accurate and up-to-date..
  • Support the HR Business Partner and Director of HR to create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their own skills and subject knowledge, and to support each other, and to hold all staff to account for their professional conduct and practice.
  • Supporting the Trusts ethos of Equality and Diversity, by promoting good practice and offering unbiased advice.
  • Develop effective professional working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including colleagues, Local Governing Bodies, Trustees, Trade Union representatives and external agents.
  • Contribute to systems of evaluation and performance of the organisation positively.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as is reasonably directed by the HR Business Partner.

  • Attend Trust events as required.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and legislation.
