Job Title: Senior Project manager

Job Purpose

To deliver a quality service and product to our clients in line with the project goals by working with the project team and applying ISG culture, systems and procedures. Specifically, to manage and oversee the successful project execution. With full responsibility and accountability of all functions/disciplines that are required for this successful execution. At all times protecting the company from risk both operational and commercial.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will be driven by high standards and has a proven record in delivering successful projects,

  • up to £30m as a number 1
  • The candidate will have proven, effective leadership skills and be able to show understanding and capability of resolving complex issues, proactively managing risk and have excellent negotiating skills. They will be an accomplished presenter who has experience of creating, developing and leading skilled teams who win business and are delivery and client motivated. The candidate must be able to put the company objectives before the individual project needs. They will have the skills to manage relationships without direct involvement of an Operations Director.

    Effective Resourcing:

  • Plan skill requirements for assigned projects to select employees within budget and headcount (permanent and where necessary, agency or freelance), adhering to company recruitment and selection processes and agency preferred suppliers;
  • Interview and recruit quality staff to meet the overall business needs as required.
  • Project Set-up and Close-out:

  • Direct timely, quality and cost efficient set up for all projects, ensuring that meeting and reporting documentation and schedules are implemented for the outset and that you provide clear direction to the contract and the context of the project deliverables; Specifically, but not limited; PEP plansProject chartersACX completion procedure
  • Implement effective process and management for complex construction issues, providing personal input and allocating skilled support input from experts as required;
  • Be fully accountable and responsible whilst providing direction to ensure timely and efficient close-out to end of Making good defects Certification.
  • Best Practice Health & Safety:

  • Be fully responsible and accountable for all H&S for your project.
  • Create a high Health and Safety culture within your project with all stakeholders upstream and downstream.
  • Proactively monitor project health & safety processes and behaviours, ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System and personally attending any serious incidents;
  • Promote H&S education to trade suppliers on all projects under your direction, monitoring with the Academy attendance of our own employees at H&S training.
  • Responsible for correct company procedure reporting.
  • Project Reporting:

  • Responsible for providing accurate and timely reports and overviews of projects as required and or requested.
  • Be responsible, manage and take an active part in the monthly project reporting process ensuring the OD/DD/RMD has reliable and accurate information. Through the monthly reporting process and other feedback, identify and address potential problem areas.
  • Be responsible for the CVR position/reporting ensuring all liabilities and risks including program position has been considered.
  • Effective people management:

  • Be Responsible and Manage project construction teams in line with the values and culture of the company.
  • Create a collaborative project culture in line with ISG values.
  • Identify team dynamics and use in the most efficient manner.
  • Act promptly and positively to address performance or behaviour issues when they arise, utilizing the support of HR.
  • Undertake PDRs for direct reports and help to create development plans.
  • Provide input to individual's, within your team, PDRs working with the Divisional Director to ensure development of individuals and management of skills.
  • Identify and manage all internal support functions to help efficiently deliver the project.
  • Be responsible for the successful people management to ensure efficient deliver for the following, Client teamsExternal third partiesSupply chain
  • Cultivate relationships to aid in wining work.
  • Project Delivery:

  • Ensure that the projects safely deliver the specified quality of product on or ahead of programme whilst working to the agreed budgets.
  • Check systems and relationships are in good order and that the delivery is in line with the Company Management System.
  • Procurement Be responsible, in conjunction with the commercial lead, to produce a robust procurement strategy that aligns with, ProgramBuild methodologyCost planSupply chain capability. Responsible and accountable for the successful deliver of said procurement strategy/TES within the time frames to meet or better program.
  • Design Responsible for the successful delivery of a compliant design.Responsible for efficient use of design resource and that this resource is blended into the entire team.Provide support, guidance and promote communication ensuring regular meetings with the relevant team members occurs to deliver a fully co-ordinated solution.Recognise and identify when additional support or technical knowledge is required employing/escalating when required.Responsible and interrogate the buildability of the presented design.
  • Program management Be responsible to construct a competent program involving all team members ensuring total buyin.Be responsible and Construct a build method statement that informs the delivery program.Own the program driving progress to achieve or better program.Be responsible to constantly motivate and focus the entire team on program to achieve or better project completion.Be responsible to incorporate the supply chains programs.Validate and challenged supply chain programs to achieve or better the main contract completion date.Fully responsible for accurate reporting.Fully responsible for program analysis identifying trends to allow for accurate forecast completion on both individual program activities and by extension project completion.
  • Commercial Be responsible, with the commercial lead, to accurately report.Be responsible to ensure all correct notifications (upstream and down) are identified and present for business approval before issue.Create a collaborative and professional relationship both upstream and downstream.
  • Quality Fully accountable and responsible for following and executing the company procedure.Responsible to ensure all ITPs are in place and executed correctly to avoid delay to the delivery program.Responsibly to instil the correct culture in relation to quality on the project.Be actively involved in innovation around quality management.Lead quality audits.Ensure your team held accountable and monitored in relation to reading drawings, specs etc. this is to include the supply chain members on your project.
  • Qualifications

    Relevant trade / technical / degree qualified

    MCIOB (preferred)

    Skills & Experiences

    The candidate's experience should cover:

  • Successfully leading a bid team and conversion to Contract.
  • Public Sector Frameworks experience DFE or SCF a must
  • Multiple examples of project delivery using Structural Dteel frame and RC Frame methods of construction
  • Successfully delivering a number of complex projects to time and with good margin performance.
  • Extensive experience in the main industry standard procurement routes.
  • Demonstrate relationships with client/consultant teams and suppliers.
  • Proven skill in being accountable for,
  • Leading projects up to £30m
  • providing clarity of direction and focus for a number of teams/projects at any one time including the building of teams and development of staff.
