An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wiltshire Council’s Digital, Data and Technology department working in the Architecture team for Wiltshire Council
About the role
This role will be part of the Architecture team as one of two Senior Solution Architect roles for the Council working across multiple directorates, as the a source of Digital, Data and Technology technical expertise, under the direction and management of the Enterprise Architect. The role will be to provide expert architectural advice and direction to selected programmes & projects within the Digital, Data & Technology Portfolio. The Senior Solution Architect will act as an authoritative source of technical expertise in product & component selection to meet business challenges.
The Senior Solution Architect will engage and provide authoritative advice with stakeholders at all levels throughout the council on technological matters, dealing effectively, confidently, sensitively and diplomatically, and communicating in a jargon-free style with senior managers, elected members, staff, partner organisations, suppliers, and on occasion with members of the public.
You will be educated to degree level, in a subject relevant to the role (e.g. BSc Computer Science, BSc Computing, BSc Computer Management, etc.) or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience. It would also be helpful to have relevant training and/or experience in an Enterprise Architecture formal method (such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).
You will require a sound working knowledge of ICT principles (such as Supplier Relationship Management, Information and Cyber Security) with the ability to interpret recommendations and information from colleagues and make authoritative decisions.
As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will primarily be responsible for leading the technical design of ICT solutions across multiple platforms and technologies. You will require a sound working knowledge of enterprise products (e.g. spatial systems, data networks, telecoms, infrastructure, web, cloud services, O365, SQL and ORACLE, etc.) in order to provide architecture design documentation for new system installations as well as significant upgrades, overseeing its approval process as well as the overseeing the final delivery and installation of any new applications implemented.
You must have the ability to translate complex concepts and challenges into easy to understand language and materials relevant to the audience (Document, Presentation, Video).
You will need the ability to build, develop and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders, partners and other external organisations.
A strong 'problem-solver', you will be a strong communicator with effective time management skills and able to respond to complex and constantly changing work priorities.
