An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse to work within the Bowel Cancer Screening Department. The role being advertised is a 37.5-hour post and is an ideal opportunity for those who would like to develop a career as a Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP).
The Bowel Cancer Screening Department covers both the Rugby and Coventry University Hospital Sites & our satellite Centre at George Eliot and South Warwick sites. This role will be based across all three Centres.
The role of the SSP is to facilitate the patient journey for those referred to the Centre with a positive FIT test. This involves giving patients the required information to enable them to make appropriate choices for investigation and carrying out health assessments either by telephone or a clinical setting. SSPs are also responsible for preparing and attending Bowel Cancer Screening endoscopy lists., and for the follow up of the patient episode post procedure.
Applicants will be expected to be up to date in their practice; able to develop their skills and contribute to the development of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
It is important that applicants have good IT and organisational skills along with the ability to communicate with both patients and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
An essential requirement is to attend the Bowel Cancer Screening Specialist Practitioner course and to undertake further training to enable the successful candidate to fulfil the SSP requirements.
