As a Technical Learning and Development Manager, you will join a Learning and Development team which is committed to helping colleagues achieve their potential. The purpose of this role will be to support, assist and guide senior managers in making sure their teams possess the required level of technical knowledge and skills to perform their roles.

As part of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR), it is critical that employees have the technical knowledge, skill, capability and possess the required level of competence to perform their role and discharge your responsibilities. The role will involve assisting senior managers to develop an understanding of the technical skills and capabilities needed in their teams, now and in the future, to achieve our strategic objectives.
It will also include assisting senior managers to assess key technical skills, identify gaps and create strategies to close gaps, including; conducting learning needs analysis, design and delivery of blended learning solution, vendor engagement, evaluation and reporting on improvements in capability. You’ll be adept at interacting and influencing stakeholders at all levels of management and leadership.
To be successful within this role, you will have a passion for driving high performance through learning and development interventions and will be committed to developing your own learning and understanding of current best practice around technical capabilities.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
Support senior managers with the development of technical skills in their teams, particularly for SMCR purposes, through the delivery of tools, information and frameworks.
Assist senior managers in assessing the technical knowledge and skills of the workforce and helping to provide solutions to rectify gaps.
Support the development and implementation of technical skills into the new Learning Management System (Workday Learning)
Design and execute fully blended programmes and interventions to meet technical development needs, working with vendors where appropriate
Monitor and report on activities, performance, costs as required and evaluate the impact and effectiveness on individuals and business outcomes
Facilitate and deliver management technical training as appropriate
Develop and implement high impact and innovative digital L&D resources
Create policies for new and existing offerings
Build effective relationships and work closely with senior managers and wider HR team to ensure engagement
Act as a professional and approachable technical L&D point of contact and advisor for the business
Driving a culture of continuous learning and be committed to their own professional development
Network internally and externally to share relevant experience and best practice
Monthly/quarterly reporting of MI demonstrating progress
Skills & Experience:
Comprehensive knowledge of new technical learning and development practices and methodologies, particularly from a regulatory (SMCR), governance and risk perspective.
Comprehensive understanding of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR)
Understanding of current best practice in regards to technical development and access to a broad L&D network
Understanding of business drivers and KPI’s
Demonstrable application of the full training cycle, including evaluation of effectiveness, ideally within a Financial Services environment
CIPD Level 5 Diploma in L&D or CIPD Level 7 Post Grad diploma (or equivalent)
Conducting learning needs analysis and development of fully blended learning programmes
Demonstrable track record of delivering improvements in technical capability individually and strategically
Strong stakeholder management skills
Ability to analyse relevant data and to develop appropriate MI
Designing and evaluating a range of learning and development interventions
