We’re looking for a UK & International Payroll Co-Ordinator to cover three key areas; Exec payroll administration, UK tax/pension compliance and payroll system review. The first area is administering the Relx Executive payrolls with the lead UK & International Payroll Advisor. You’ll act as back-up support and holiday cover in the absence of the lead payroll administrator as appropriate to process the E2E payroll processing including interface loading, handling employee queries, managing 3rd party payments and processing ad-hoc pay changes to the payroll as appropriate. The Executive Payrolls consist of 3 payrolls; the RELX Head Office, Executive and Non-Executive Directors payrolls and the total FTE administered is 120 individuals. Secondly, you’ll act as a governance control check for the other 4 RELX UK Payrolls with their complex pensions and tax calculations and act as a dotted governance line to the RELX UK Payrolls to assure the accuracy of inputs onto the payroll following such calculations. You’ll also build relationships with our internal tax and pensions teams to assure accurate processing of inputs within the payroll deadlines. The third area is a review of the current ADP system offering and support us through the successful upgrade of our payroll solution to a more modern and fit for purpose system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run interface files from the HR system and convert for uploading as well as administer, leavers, pay changes, other permanent and variable data onto ADP
  • Calculate Occupational, Statutory Sickness, Occupational Maternity, Statutory Maternity and shared parental leave and pay
  • Complete notice of exit forms for leavers from the REPS pension scheme and support completion of Annual Pensions Returns and on-time submission to our pension partner
  • Review inputs arriving from PwC and our Employment Tax team and administer request into ADP for processing
  • Process the annual bonuses for employees with dual taxation requirements via support from Employment Taxes
  • Conduct tax & pension BAU review meetings with payroll colleagues to continue building knowledge transfer of accurate completion of complex processes
  • Govern HRBP’s and Employees against the appropriate adherence of payroll deadlines
  • Payroll basic pay reconciliations on a monthly basis and HMRC payment reconciliations
  • Assist in checking payroll input as per internal and SoX controls
  • Administration of season ticket loans and Cycle to Work
  • Assist with running the Global International Assignees payrolls, RELX Head Office and Executive and Non-Executive Directors payrolls
  • Assist in the production of Defined Benefit Pension Scheme Annual Return and complete relevant forms for the scheme
  • Resetting of passwords for employees’ access to the ADP system
  • Demo and test the system offerings as part of the RFP process to engage new suppliers
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Numerate with strong IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrable payroll experience and knowledge of GDPR regulations
  • Proven ability to work well Ability to work independently, under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly strong excel skills and experience using payroll software, ideally ADP
  • Knowledge of PAYE, NI, SMP, SSP and other HMRC payroll statutory regulations
  • Confidentiality and professionalism in the handling of extremely sensitive information
  • Team player and willing to assist and cover for team members across the payrolls to achieve an excellent support service
  • Flexible, and able to work proactively, with a pragmatic approach to developing ‘best practice’ standards and taking on new tasks
  • Self-motivated to look for ways of continued improvements, efficiency and customer service
