Marks Sattin is retained by an award-winning Real Estate Investor, developer, and operator searching for a strategic CFO.


The firm is a market leader within its space and is currently building out the next generation of assets across the UK with a strong development pipeline. In addition, they have recently obtained planning consent for a landmark development in which you will play a pivotal part.


The business boasts 'A grande' tenants and continues to build a strong renewable network across its sites, a key focus for the company.


Over the years, the founders and senior management team have built out a high-class finance function and are now looking to recruit a new CFO to take on the next stage of growth in the UK. In addition, the CFO will be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and responsible for all finance function areas working alongside the other SMT members to formulate and strategise continued growth.


Responsibilities


General

· Leading on all finance matters within the business, liaising with multiple stakeholders, including the Board, investors, debt providers and regulators. Including coordinating and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

· Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements, including board papers.


Finance

· Responsibility for the quarterly and annual accounts, audits and treasury affairs. Liaising with investee companies, auditors, banks and offshore administrators.

· Responsibility for collating and preparing all reporting information for third party property valuations.

· Oversight and preparation of the annual budgets, cash management and long-term forecasts of Extra.

· Ultimately manage all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition

· Conducting financial analysis to identify the efficiency and effectiveness of business activities


Taxation

· Responsibility for all direct and indirect taxes working with tax and legal advisors to optimise tax and overall financial position of Extra.

· Liaising with tax advisers to develop tax structuring for new transactions. Manage and comply with all tax filings.


Treasury

· Management of long-term debt, which will include building strong relationships with banks and other debt providers.

· Coordinate with the debt providers to ensure full compliance with debt facility agreements and negotiate new facility agreements when required.


Transactions

· Participate in the due diligence process relating to potential acquisitions and subsequent deal negotiation

· Interfacing with the SMT where required and advising on appropriate deal structuring. Assisting in the establishment of legal entities for acquisitions and having oversight of the financial affairs, taxation and funding structure for such entities; and

· Preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts for new acquisitions

· Responsible for completing development appraisals for future development sites in conjunction with other members of the SMT.


Operations and HR

· Managing and recruiting the employees within the finance team; providing HR support

· Accountable for managing payroll for employees.

· Managing HR related matters as requested and staff expense claims and processing;

· Oversight of the LTIP / carried interest schemes;

· Assist with the review and negotiation of all contracts involving equipment leases, telecommunications contracts, consultants, lawyers, auditors, insurance providers, etc;


Teamwork

· Assist in maintaining team cohesiveness and resolving any particular conflicts within the team.

· Give regular and reliable feedback to the team and management

· Promote a healthy climate of communication, including information sharing

Professional Development

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the technical aspects of your role and have the ability to share and distribute this knowledge with other team members

· Commit to continual professional development and learning on relevant technological, business, and human relationship matters


Requirements - Knowledge & Skills required:

· Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA, CIMA with IFRS knowledge.

· 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience

· CFO candidates will require Real Estate sector experience and will need to understand the Propco / Opco structure and debt financing.

· An advanced understanding of property financial, legal and development issues surrounding major property investments

· An understanding of property investment, development and construction.

· Excellent excel skills and understanding of accounting software.

· M&A experience is preferred,

· Energetic, commercially minded finance executive

· Exposure at board level

· Highly developed analytical and financial skills

· Strong leadership with an ability to communicate issues in a non-technical manner

· Not afraid to challenge the status quo and, in turn, not resist challenge from others

· Superb communication skills, able to add value as both an individual contributor and active team member

· Proven stakeholder management experience building rapport quickly with other members of the executive team

· Dependable, enthusiastic, and works well within a team as well as independently

· Detail-oriented, efficient, and organised

· Excellent problem solving and time management skills


Salary £175,000 - £200,000 with car allowance + bonus and LTIP


Note, the firm offers a hybrid working model with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
