About the role

We're currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to work on a number of exciting new projects in our Packaging division, operating within a cross-functional Engineering Project Team and working closely with assigned Project Managers and site resources.

As the successful candidate you will work closely with our DS Smith Packaging (Featherstone ) site team to interpret and deliver specific project requirements, delivering projects within timescales and budgeted costs. Using your expertise you will have the ability to identify and define work packages relating to the projects, obtain suitable quotations and allocate those work packages to approved contractors, and ‘end to end’ manage the safe execution of those activities across multiple disciplines. You will provide daily contractor supervision and management including carrying out site inductions and issuing work permits, for electrical & mechanical services installation, civils, rigging/heavy lift operations, and installation of production machinery within an operational FMCG factory environment. You will be able to use your initiative to resolve technical challenges and provide solutions throughout the project implementation phase. In doing so, you will ensure at all times that relevant health and safety requirements are managed, complying with DS Smith’s Health and Safety governance guidlines.

As part of the wider Central Engineering Project team you will be required to organise and prioritise workload in order to deliver to project plan schedules, contributing and providing technical input to regular internal project meetings. Excellent stakeholder management skills are a neccessity for this role as you will be responsible for managing multiple internal and external stakeholders. You will manage and meet with third party contractors and suppliers to ensure they are engaged and understand their agreed scope of supply and delivery. In conjuction, you will provide regular progress updates and reports to the DS Smith Project Control Management protocols.

Please note: This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with the potential to extend beyond that initial period.

About you

Minimum Requirements

· Experience of Installation Project Engineer or similar role

· Holder of a recognised mechanical or electrical engineering qualification

· Experience working in a manufacturing environment

· Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills

· Competency in MS Office

Nice to have

· IOSH Managing Safely

· Experience of AutoCAD LT (preferred)

· Experience of Project Management methodologies (preferred)
