Business Development Manager - Retail

£45-55k bonus benefits


We are seeking a new business winner. A rainmaker. Someone comfortable developing new relationships with new retail customers, of varying sizes nationally, with a strong track record, in evidence and support of doing so.

Our client is a market leader, part of a global multi-billion-dollar technology group, supplying national and independent retailers both nationally and internationally. With over 40 years' experience, our client operates in over 60 countries worldwide.

They have an award-winning reputation for products having built a truly global brand and can offer long-term stability and career development. As a result of their continued success they are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new business development across the UK.

You will be targeted with winning new business, helping to achieve all budgeted sales and margin targets to achieve sustainable growth, whilst shaping and implementing strategies for new key customer/ retail channels within the UK retail business unit. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a proven track record of acquiring new business accounts from a range of retail customers. You will manage your own diary and appointments on a day to day basis to identify leads and meet company targets based around new business development. You will work closely with your team members and other departments to ensure the business continues to run smoothly and efficiently. You will be given guidance but ultimately it will be down to you to utilise your skills and industry knowledge to win new business contracts and assist in the company's growth.

It is essential that the successful candidate has experience dealing with Retailers (DIY or Grocery would be preferable). You will be an enthusiastic character who is self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative. With outstanding negotiation and influencing skills you will be able to confidently develop effective business relationships with category buyers and directors. You will be highly numerate and be able to demonstrate a solid commercial acumen allowing you to operate at the highest levels of integrity

Skills and Experience:

  • University Degree or qualified by experience
  • A strong, proven track record of New Business Development within retail customers
  • You will be highly numerate and be able to demonstrate a solid commercial acumen allowing you to operate at the highest levels of integrity.
  • Outstanding Communication and Presentation Skills.
