Full Time, fixed term until 20th June 2021
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to act up as Senior Practitioner in the DOLS Team to manage the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) Service in Bristol City.
In this important role, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the Supervisory Body functions and all aspects of administering the DOLS safeguards and authorisation process. You will oversee each application for DOLS authorisation and will have ongoing responsibility for all aspects of the process. You will support the DOLS Team Manager in leading a dedicated team of Best Interests Assessors (BIAs), commission mental health assessors, Independent Mental Capacity Advocates and appoint Relevant Person’s Representative.
You will act as a source of expert advice and support in relation to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DOLS. You will also be required to support further development of the DoLS Service and the implementation of LPS in line with the priorities set by the Bristol City Council and national policies.
You must have a professional qualification in health or social care and be a qualified BIA. You must have in-depth knowledge of Mental Capacity Act, the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Human Rights Act and demonstrate good understanding of safeguarding issues in health and social care.

This role can only be taken as a secondment if you are a permanent Bristol City Council employee.
If you are currently on a fixed term contract, a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this will be a fixed term contract.
